S+ Lane Keeping Aid
S+ Lane Keeping Aid is an active safety function, assisting the driver to avoid unintended lane departures. In situations where the driver is drowsy or distracted, the risk of lane departure increases. When distracted by e.g., the control panel and sorrounding environment, the driver may not have the time to react and avoid lane departure if the vehicle drift away from its intended course. By monitoring the road ahead, S+ Lane Keeping Aid supports the driver to follow the road path.
S+ Lane Keeping Aid is adapted to NHTSA level 1 and is available in two performance levels.
S+ Lane Keeping Aid applies a torque to the steering wheel, when the vehicle is too close to the lane boundaries. In S+ Lane Keeping Aid, standard version, the steering wheel guides the driver back toward the centre of the lane.
When the vehicle is too close to the lane boundaries, the advanced version of S+ Lane Keeping Aid applies a torque to the steering wheel, which not only guides the driver back to the correct heading in the centre of the lane but also guides the driver to follow the lane curvature, which result in reduced steering efforts – like driving on a straight road.
